Newbie Arrives at Auckland Zoo At Auckland Zoo,a new animal has arrived. It's not a leopard, not a zebra, not even a monkey; it's an elephant. This elephant's name is Anjalee and she is nearly nine years old. Anjalee has come from Sri Lanka and travelled on a plane and then a truck. She is as haevy as a bolder. Anjalee has been exploring her new home. There is another elephant who has been lonely since 2009. That is why we have brought Anjalee so the other elephant, Burma is not lonely. I think they are going to get on really well. By Sophia

The Assembly
We went to the year two assembly at the hall to do a dance and I was a spider. We had to practise two times and… the two practices helped us to perform for the audience. Many babies were crying very loud. The presenters were Micah and Nikita. It was amazing.
Our Assembly First we practised our bug dance in the class. Mrs Govender chose us to be minibeasts. Next we performed for Mrs Langford’s class. They were all excited about our dance. Then it was our assembly day. We had to be early to dress up in our costumes so we could have some help from the parents in our class. We were able to set off but some people were late. They had to dress in their costumes for the assembly. We also had masks. We went on stage. There were crowds of people watching us dance like minibeasts and we did our own moves for the end part. I think going on stage is exciting. By Tracy
On Friday, 29 May we performed our minibeast dance but … before we could get our dancing perfect, we practised as well as got the headbands and costumes ready. We performed it a couple of times in the hall with the other year twos. Finally the day came. I was excited and a bit nervous when we got on stage. First we sang the national anthem. Then it was time to perform. The music started to play and we started to dance. We did our dance well! By Jayme
Year Two Assembly On Friday the twenty ninth of May, my class, 4b and I went to assembly. We had to get changed. When we finally finished changing into our clothes we put on our headbands. There were different minibeasts such as ladybirds, bees, ants, grasshoppers, praying mantises and butterflies. I was a ladybird. When I was on stage I felt proud of myself because I didn't make a mistake when our dance was on. We couldn't be late for school because we had to get changed and go to assembly. I was nervous because I've only been on stage for certificates. The song about minibeasts was called Bugs and Crawly Things. There was a gigantic crowd looking at us and clapping for us when we had finished our beautiful dance. I felt proud of myself because I was brave. By Shona
Wow! We had an assembly. We had to dress like minibeasts. I chose a butterfly. Next we chose our costumes. On Friday when we came to school, it was cold. We got into our costumes and we went into the hall. There were crowds of people all around the hall. I danced and thought about the steps. When the dance was over we went off the stage and sat in the audience. After the assembly we went back to class. I felt relieved that it was over.
